David joined the company in 2022, after working as a teacher and farm manager in Wales and the Midlands. David graduated with distinction after completing his Master's degree in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Conservtion from the University of South Wales. David volunteered for a year at the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority before becoming a lecturer in agriculture and countryside management at Bridgend College. He has taught GIS at a varietyof organisations, including the Wildlife Trusts and ecological consultancies. David has experience with the administration and application of agri-environment schemes, as well as a wide range of geospatial technologies and services. David also has experience in coding, and the deployment of custom produced mobile phone apps, QGIS plugins and scripts in ecological and land management scenarios.
David's work covers the GIS and mapping elements of all projects, including the roll out of Biodiversity Net Gain and the Biodiversity Metric within the business, as well as developing and delivering some of the company's training programmes.
He is certified in the Morph5 River Condition Assesment methodology, required for assessing rivers for Biodiversity Net Gain.
He is also a qualified drone operator.
