Lindsay Carrington Ecological Services Ltd is an independent ecological consultancy based in Dorset. The practice was established in 2002 on a sound conservation and commercial consultancy basis. Since then, our company has expanded and our expert ecologists have the skills and experience to carry out a complete range of ecological projects. The expertise of our ecologists is built on an ongoing involvement in ecological research and voluntary survey work.

Services for developers

We offer services for development of all sizes - from loft conversions and extensions, to large, regionally and nationally significant residential, solar and infrastructure. We cover all ecological services from the planning application stage, to implementing mitigation and completion of projects.

Land restoration

We provide ecological services to various conservation organisations, and land managers. These include surveys and management plans for Sites of Nature Conservation Interest (SNCIs), such as Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs) and Special Areas of Conservation (SACs).

GIS & Mapping services

We provie a range of specialist GIS & Mapping services to suit the needs of ecologists and land managers. We can help you collect, process, manage and present any geospatial data you may require.

Principal Ecologist

The Principal Ecologist’s role will be to provide expert technical consultancy services to LC Ecological Services’ clients, provide support to other members of staff and take a lead in the implementation and development of company policies.

Phase 2 bat survey

If evidence of bats is recorded or a structure is assessed as holding potential to support roosting bats following the phase 1 bat survey then phase 2 bat surveys will be required. These are usually a combination of dusk emergence/ dawn re- entry surveys

Phase 1 bat survey

This survey requires an initial inspection of structures such as buildings or trees that will be impacted by the development. The structure will be assessed for its potential to support roosting bats.

Tree climbing bat surveys

We have a team of bat licensed tree climbers at hand to survey trees for bat roosts. Following a preliminary inspection from the ground, our tree climbing team can carry out detailed inspections of roost features within trees, that would otherwise be inaccessible.
